The struggle of having to balance the apprenticeship with everything in life is hard.įor example, balancing going to college, while working a job, having a significant other, and the apprenticeship, will take a toll on you. It is basically another job that you are not paid for. The apprenticeship is not paid, and on average you will be spending 6-8 hours at the shop a day. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?ĭuring the apprenticeship, one of the struggles is that you face is that you need to be at the shop taking care of the other artist’s needs. We are all proud to be a part of this family where we can grow and prosper together. Alex’s passion, determination, and creativity has influenced the rest of the Enso team. Vu’s apprenticeship lasted 2 years and now that he’s finished, Enso Ink has 4 members in their studio. Phi’s apprenticeship took about 3 years and after he was released as an artist the shop consisted of these three for about 2.5 years.Īfter that time, they all decided to take on another apprentice, Vu Vu. During the beginning stages of Phi’s apprenticeship, this is when Enso Ink started to officially solidify. When they decided to branch off, they also decided to take on a new apprentice, Phi Ho. ![]() After about a year and a half of Alex being a licensed tattoo artist he decided to take Brian Huynh under his wing during his time at another shop called Guilty pleasures.īrian’s apprenticeship was also a two-year process When Brian was released as an artist, both Alex and Brian stayed at Guilty Pleasures for about a year before deciding to branch off. Alex has been a tattoo artist for 8 years. The Enso Ink family started with Alex Doan after he finished his two-year apprenticeship. A tattoo shop that welcomes all art forms. “We needed a way to truly showcase all of our distinct art avenues Kevin and tattooing Curt and retail design Nicole and yoga while also encouraging as much overlap as possible!” Enso Tattoo was the solution. Very simply put, Enso means the Circle of Togetherness, encompassing all. “We wanted something different and unique, that would make us stand out from the traditional street tattoo shop.” Hence, the concept of Enso was born. All stemming from very distinguishable backgrounds, upbringings and skill sets, Kevin, Nicole and Curt finally decided to put their minds together to make it happen. Enso Tattoo is the end result of three friends who had a vision.
